Top 5: Television Shows

This is a list of my five favorite TV shows of all time.  You will notice the majority are comedies... I like to laugh :)

1. 3rd Rock from the Sun
This show was consistently hilarious.  It was very well cast, and wasn't afraid to be excessively goofy for the sake of a laugh.  I'm almost positive that I watched every single episode, and was really sad to see it go.

2. Seinfeld
I loved this show for a number of reasons, but my number one reason is because it really reflects on how friends behave.  Seinfeld always brought out the worst in people, in the funniest way.  It was unfortunate that the last episode was such a stinker, but considering the successful 9 year run they had, it's forgivable.

3. The X-Files
I must admit, I didn't watch this show when it was on air.  My husband and I decided to check it out a couple of years ago, and once we started watching we could not stop.  We watched the entire series in under a year, and were rarely disappointed.  It was a good dose of science fiction fun.

4. Bullshit
If you haven't checked out Penn & Teller's show Bullshit, please do.  It will change the way you think about a lot of issues.  It's just... incredible.

5. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
All of the characters in this show are absolutely despicable, which makes for a very amusing show!  Everyone's logic is completely bogus, and each episode is more ridiculous than the last.  What's not to love?

My Top 5: Pizza Toppings

I could eat pizza every day.  Here are my 5 favorite toppings.
  • Black olives
These are so addictive.  I say I like them on pizza, which I do, but I could also just eat them straight out of the can.  I lust for them.
  • Zucchini
Thinly sliced zucchini is so awesome baked on a pizza.  Unlike cucumber, it's not very juicy, so you needn't worry about it getting weird and slimy.  Great crunchy texture!
  • Tomato slices
Tomato slices help bring out the flavor in the marinara sauce.  I get excited when I see pizzas topped with tomatoes :D
  • Artichoke hearts
I've always thought that artichoke hearts looked totally gross and weird, but they're one of those mysteriously amazing foods.  Excellent sliced up on pizza.
  • Feta cheese
The absolute best cheese to have crumbled on top of your other pizza ingredients.

Hungry yet?  I am!

My Top 5: Books

1. On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony

This work of fantasy follows the character Zane through his adventures after he shoots Death.  This book is impossible to put down once you've started reading it.  Piers Anthony's storytelling is both humorous and very original.

2. The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells

Okay, so it's actually a novella, but I had to include it because it's such a good read.  Perfect combination of science fiction and horror.  Unfortunately the movies made after this story look awful, and from what I've heard they aren't even worth watching for the "haha" factor.

3. Running with Scissors: A Memoir by Augusten Burroughs

After I saw the film inspired by this book, I knew I had to read it.  This guy has had a totally bizarro life, and the way he tells it will make you laugh, gasp, and grateful that you didn't have his childhood.

4. Weaveworld by Clive Barker

I never wanted this book to end.  When a land of supernatural beings is threatened, they weave themselves into an enchanted rug to be hidden and protected.  The story is so beautifully crafted, and I was entranced the whole time.

5. Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palaniuk

Let me start by saying that Palahniuk is not for everyone.  This book is rather twisted (and sometimes just downright gross), but the writing is clever and enticing.  If you can stomach Invisible Monsters and found that you enjoyed it, I also recommend Survivor by Palahniuck.

My Top 5: Cookies

1. Snickerdoodle

Cinnamon-sugar is such a lovely, lovely combination.  Snickerdoodles have to use a truckload of artery-clogging Crisco to be really soft and yummy.

2. Tagalongs

Everyone disagrees with me when I say Tagalongs are the best Girl Scout cookie.  I'm telling you, Thin Mints are delicious, but Tagalongs are like crack!  There is no comparison.

3. Chips Ahoy Chewy

These cookies are probably a small step away from raw dough.  They're so good that I can overcome my conscience long enough to eat a whole row in one sitting.

4. Christmas
Xmas cookies are so much fun!  They taste good, and you can bite the heads off of snowmen and reindeer.

5. Pumpkin
These are sooooo good, especially when they're warm.  I actually think I like everything made with pumpkin: pie, bread, cookies, cake... no wonder Linus worshiped the Great Pumpkin.

What are your favorite kinds of cookie?

My Top 5: Comedies

Mel Brooks made some hella funny movies, but this one has always made me laugh no matter how many times I watch it.  Favorite quote: "So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb."

2. Clue

Who knew a board game could be converted into such a hilarious movie?  I'd like to see Monopoly try.  Favorite quote: Colonal Mustard: "This is war, Peacock! Casualties are inevitable. You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, every cook will tell you that." Mrs. Peacock: "But look what happened to the cook!"

One of Bill Murray's best roles.  I really don't care much for Andie MacDowell, but even she can't ruin this classic for me.  Favorite quote: "People like blood sausage, too... people are morons."

4. Soapdish

If you've never seen this early '90s movie, you have no idea what you're missing.  The all star cast includes Kevin Kline, Sally Field, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Shue, and even a cameo by Carrie Fisher.  Favorite quote: "I don't think you realize how serious this operation is.  You will not have a brain when it is complete!"

The talented Peter Sellers plays three different characters in this crazy, beautiful mess.  Just thinking about it makes me want to watch it again.  Favorite quote: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room."

*This is no one's rating but my own.  I am interested to know what you think, so please discuss!
